MTV UK & Ireland finds new talent with Musicmetric

The Next Web and the Wall Street Journal carry the story of how MTV UK & Ireland used Musicmetric’s technology to identify up-and-coming artists for its Brand New for 2012 list by analyzing fans’ preferences and activities in social media. “We’ve broken new ground this year with the inclusion of unsigned acts – and the ability to measure and analyse online buzz was critical to our selection process,” says Matt Cook of MTV UK.

Billboard reports that unsigned artist Context was selected as part of MTV’s “Brand New For 2012″, in large part because Musicmetric helped measure the swell of fan support out there for Context.
