New RAPID 3.0 extends support for Batch Manufacturing

August 2004

Version 3.0 delivers tighter integration with leading batch execution systems

Automsoft, the leading global provider of advanced manufacturing intelligence systems to process industries, announced today the release of RAPID version 3.0. RAPID 3.0, the latest version of the company's award-winning database software, is designed to collect, store and report on data sourced from multiple batch execution systems. Version 3.0 integrates real-time batch information with other data from the enterprise to help improve batch and other event-driven operations.

With RAPID 3.0 users have powerful reporting tools with access to recipes, equipment, process cells, procedures and operations, coupled with batch-to-batch comparisons, golden batch reporting and batch exception reporting, enabling the production of more efficient and consistent batches.

‘Manufacturers are increasingly challenged with reducing cycle times and increasing product consistency,’ said Ian Pepper, Chief Technology Officer of Automsoft. ‘Release 3.0 delivers significant value because users can use RAPID 3.0 to correlate continuous data, alarm and event data together with (S88) batch data to produce concise and accurate reports suitable for regulatory needs.’

Release 3.0 builds upon the success and global commercial acceptance of the RAPID product suite. This release also includes support for the .NET platform and is compatible with the Windows 2003 Server systems. Enhanced digital signature functionality has also been added to facilitate validation of RAPID in FDA regulated environments. This release also supports the ISA S88 standard. S88 defines hierarchical recipe management and process segmentation frameworks which separate products from the processes that make them. The standard enables reuse and flexibility of equipment and software and provides a structure for coordinating and integrating recipe-related information across the traditional ERP, MES and control domains.
