The Process
Since we receive large numbers of investment proposals, we would encourage you to prepare yourself before approaching us. A good starting point would be to take a look at this site and decide whether your business idea fits with our philosophy and areas of interest.
If possible, initially we would like to review a Business Plan which contains a concise Executive Summary. Once we are both convinced we want to take things forward, we will probably request several meetings, often at your premises, and a formal Management Presentation at our offices.
We suggest that the Executive Summary should not be more than 2-3 pages. It will be helpful to us if it contains at least the following elements:
a description of the business activity
a description of the team including explanations of relevant experience, expertise and skills
an assessment of the competitive market situation and the quantitative scale of the market opportunity
a description of your business model
an assessment of your financing needs over the next two years
your contact details
We would also encourage you to keep the Business Plan interesting but concise. Try not to include too many annexes or detailed financial plans - what we really need at this stage is a two year cash flow on a monthly basis so we can start devising a funding strategy.
The formal Management Presentation is a key step in our investment process, and ideally all, or at least the majority of the key members of your team, should be present at that meeting. In order to fully consider marketing and technical issues, the presentation will be attended by our Venture Partners. Be prepared to give a 30-45 minute pitch about your initiative and assume that some of the people present at that meeting may not know much about your plan . The way you deal with this will give us a first impression of how you are going to sell your concept to the world at large.
From receiving initial Executive Summary, to making a formal offer to invest, will take no more than four months, and in many cases, investment will occur more quickly than this.
